Another month, another set of books! I wasn’t quite as voracious with my reading in February as I was in January, but I still managed to knock off quite a few books from my TBR list!

So I had high hopes {no pun intended} for The Hopefuls.  Not gonna lie, it was kinda lame.  I kept waiting for the book to get better {spoiler…it didn’t!}  It just seemed like a journal about Washington D.C. happenings told from the main character Beth’s point of view.  I loved Girls in White Dresses Jennifer Close’s, so I was bummed when this was a letdown! Oh well!

Okay, I LOVED Everything We Keep! The basic gist: On the day Aimee and James are supposed to get married, she’s actually attending his funeral.  She doesn’t believe that James is dead. So good! Bonus: it takes place in the Bay Area so I love the local connection.  Definitely worth reading.

This was hands down, my favorite book I read this month! Swear onThis Life is one of those books that you just can’t put down. The characters are so great and the writing is fantastic.

I don’t even want to give you any info about this book – just, please go read it!

You may have remembered that I shared a few Taylor Jenkins Reid books last month.  Because I love her characters so much, I went back to her first book, After I Do. Loved it!

Two-line summary: what happens when you’ve been with someone for a long time and magic is gone? This couple separates for a year and tries to figure it out.

Great read!

The Assistants is a fun read a little reminiscent of The Devil Wears Prada. Tina is the assistant to a big-wig media man. This is the story of what happens when a few assistants in the company manage to steal some money.

Super entertaining and quick read!

I was so excited to learn that the HBO mini-series for Big Little Lies was finally premiering this month! I thought I had read the book, to be honest, but I hadn’t so I spent a day whipping through it.  Loved it!

It’s a little murder mystery, a little friendship and a whole lot of cattiness.  Definitely worth picking up. I haven’t loved Liane Moriarty’s other books, but Big Little Lies is worth your time for sure.

This month, I joined the Book of the Month club {affiliate link} on a whim.  As you’ve probably heard me say countless times, I’m a Kindle reader. I’m not a “hold a heavy book” kinda reader. But Book of the Month combined two of my favorite things: books and subscription boxes!

From February’s BOTM picks, I chose Behind Her Eyes.  Louise is a single mom who hooks up with David during a night out…who turns out to be her boss. He’s also the husband of Adele, Louise’s new friend.
It’s very odd – I liked it for the first 90%…and the last 10% lost me.  But don’t take my word for it. You may love it!

The Couple Next Door – OH MY WORD. If you haven’t read it yet, buy it immediately. I read it in a day because I just couldn’t put it down!

Two-line summary: A pair of couples is having a dinner party and one couple’s baby goes missing. The twists and turns in this book keep you guessing through the pages.

The second favorite book I read this month! {But just narrowly – could easily have been my first, too!}

For my second pick, I chose The Sun is Also A Star.  I’ve picked up this book at Target no less than 5 times.  It was good {not great} but I absolutely loved the ending, so it was definitely a worthwhile read.

It’s the story of a boy and a girl who meet in New York City and spend the day together…and it changes their lives.

Lauren Layne writes such fun books! Her latest, Love Story, is just a delight. I loved the two-week road trip adventure of the main characters, Lucy and Reece. The story is told through both Lucy and Reece’s point of view through a series of flashbacks and present-day accounts.

Where’d You Go Bernadette is a book that’s always popping up in my Kindle suggestions.  So, I read it on a lazy, rainy Presidents’ Day. It was good, but not my favorite book. I’ll give it three-and-a-half out of five stars. But it could have been my mood that day.

The story is told through a series of letters, emails, and secret notes surrounding Bernadette Fox’s mysterious disappearance {it’s not a scary disappearance, more of a “What the heck happened to her?” disappearance!}
