Summer Reading List 2016

Summer means that it’s finally time to pull the ol’ Kindle out full time! For the first time EVER, I am not teaching summer school.  I was actually freaking out that I wasn’t sure how I was going to fill my days without it…and then I took at peek at my Kindle wishlist and realized that my days will be filled reading lots and lots of books!

Last year, I created a list of books that I was reading and books that you should read! I’m back with another list for 2016!

This summer, I signed up for Kindle Unlimited.  For just $9.99 a month, you get unlimited access to millions of books and unlimited audible files, too! The best part – the first month is FREE! I’ve discovered some fun “summer reads” already! You can cancel anytime, so it’s definitely worth a try!

Okay, now it was VERY hard to narrow down the books I think you should read this summer! I was looking over my kindle and I read 46 books since last summer! However, here are my MUST reads for the summer!

After You {great follow-up to Me Before You, which I recommended last summer!}

Eligible {a modern day Pride & Prejudice}

The Nest {A little family drama related to inheritance!}

The Ramblers {Thirty-somethings living in NYC – told from three points of view}

Orphan Train {Read this book in a day – couldn’t put it down!}

The Girl on the Train {A little Gone Girl-ish. Awesome storytelling!}

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society {I just loved this story! It’s told in letters amongst several characters – delightful little read!}

Brooklyn {SUCH a wonderful book! I plan to see the movie this summer}

Now, my reading list for the summer is a little ambitious! Thankfully, some of these books are pre-order, so they’ll just deliver to my Kindle as soon as they are released…giving me time to get through some of the others!

In Twenty Years

First Comes Love {I’m a sucker for any Emily Giffin book!}

The Island House {Nantucket – swoon!}

Here’s to Us

We Could Be Beautiful

All Summer Long {A book set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, which is just incredible!}

A Lowcountry Wedding {the final book in this series! I’ve fallen in love with these characters!}

  1. I love this linky! I remember you having this last year too and I got some great book suggestions! I’m definitely going to try All Summer Long. I love southern fiction! Thanks for hosting and being awesome!

  2. After you was SO good! I can’t wait to see Me Before You in the theaters. I watched Brooklyn last weekend. VERY good! Just like you I big time heart Emily Giffin! Can’t wait to read that one. 🙂

  3. I absolutely LOVE this linky! Thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to check out everyone’s suggestions! I am such a PD book nerd, so I love that you have given me a great variety of less serious FUN reads! I always want my students to LOVE reading, and I often forget to take time to read books just for fun.

  4. The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Steersman is a moral conundrum tale. A fabulous read for book clubs. The movie adaptation should be out this fall.
