Math and Science Freebies

Last week in math, we reviewed tallies. To get the kids up and moving, I made this Count the Classroom. It was a great quick assessment to see which kiddos still need a little boost in that area!

Science is rough in my classroom! It’s at the end of the day when the brand new first graders are exhausted.  Plus, you throw words like “viscous” “transparent” and “opaque” at them and they just want to fall asleep! Oh wait, is that just me? Ha!

Anyway, I got the kiddos up and moving again with this activity.  We went on a scavenger hunt around our classroom to find two objects for each solid property.

They LOVED it and did a fabulous job finding objects to fit the bill!

I also shared on my Facebook page this fun Sesame Street video called The Power of Yet. Not only is it a very catchy tune, it’s also a great starting point for a conversation with your kids at the beginning of the year.
